Drawing Editorial Review
Henri's Scissors is a delightful children's book that captures the essence of Henri Matisse's artistic journey through vibrant illustrations and engaging storytelling. Published by Beach Lane Books on August 27, 2013, it spans 40 pages and targets young readers aged 3 to 7 years. The narrative concisely covers Matisse's life while maintaining a pace suitable for read-aloud sessions, making it perfect for classrooms and bedtime stories. Reviewers appreciate the combination of simple yet captivating pictures and the way it introduces art concepts to children, fostering their creativity, as seen in activities like Matisse collages during homeschool lessons. Its approach makes Matisse accessible, although some families note the book's ending may require discussion with very young readers.
