What are BCW Silver Age Comic Bags and Boards used for?

BCW Silver Age Comic Bags and Boards are essential for protecting and preserving your comic book collection. These bags and boards create a sturdy barrier against dust, moisture, and physical damage. They are specifically designed for Silver Age comics, ensuring a snug fit that maintains the integrity of the comic. By using these products, collectors can safely store their comics in a manner that prevents bending or curling, extending the lifespan of their investment.

How do I use the resealable comic bags?

Using resealable comic bags is simple and efficient. First, carefully place your comic book in the bag, making sure it doesn't snag or bend. Once the comic is inside, peel back the resealable strip and press it down to create a secure seal. This type of closure not only protects the comic from contaminants but also allows easy access so you can re-examine your collection whenever desired. Resealable bags are perfect for those who want a secure yet flexible storage solution.

What is the difference between Silver Age and Golden Age comic bags?

The main difference between Silver Age and Golden Age comic bags is their size and fit. Silver Age comic bags are designed specifically for comics that typically measure about 7” x 10.5”, providing the ideal fit for these types of comics. In contrast, Golden Age bags cater to larger comics measuring approximately 7.5” x 10.5”. Using the correct size bag ensures your comics are adequately protected without unnecessary stress on the covers.

Why should I use backing boards with comic bags?

Backing boards are crucial because they provide rigidity and support to comic books, preventing them from bending or folding. When comics are stored in bags without backing boards, they can warp over time or suffer damage from handling. The combination of bags and boards ensures that each comic remains flat and in good condition, which is particularly important for collectors who value the condition of their comics for potential resale or display.

Are these bags acid-free and archival safe?

Yes, BCW Silver Age Comic Bags and Boards are acid-free and archival safe, making them perfect for long-term storage. Acid-free materials help prevent deterioration, yellowing, or damage to the comic book over time. Collectors who want to maintain the quality of their comics will benefit from using products that meet archival standards, ensuring their comic books look as good as new for years to come.

Can I use these bags for other sizes of comics?

While BCW Silver Age Comic Bags are specifically tailored for Silver Age comics, they can typically accommodate modern comics as well. However, for comics that fall outside the Silver Age dimensions, you might find a more snug fit. If you own Golden Age comics or oversized variants, it's advisable to seek out corresponding bags made for those specific sizes to ensure proper protection and fit.

How many comics can I store with this 100 ct combo?

The BCW Silver Age Comic Bags and Boards Combo contains 100 bags and 100 boards, allowing you to safely store up to 100 comic books. This is ideal for both budding collectors looking to build their collection and seasoned collectors needing to replenish their supplies. By providing a complete set of bags and boards, this combo ensures that each comic book can remain in excellent condition during storage and display.

Can these bags protect my comics from moisture damage?

Yes, these resealable comic bags provide a barrier against moisture, helping to protect your comics from potential water damage. The sealed environment created by the bags inhibits humidity exposure, which is crucial for maintaining the paper quality of comic books. For collectors who live in areas with high humidity or who store their comics in less-than-ideal environments, using these protective bags can help prevent deterioration caused by moisture.

What should I consider when organizing my comic book collection?

When organizing your comic book collection, consider factors such as genre, title, and publication date to enhance accessibility and display. Using BCW Silver Age Comic Bags and Boards is key as it ensures each comic is individually protected, making it easier to categorize and browse through your collection without risking damage. This organized approach not only helps keep records of your collection but also allows for impressive displays whether you are an avid reader or a passionate collector.

BCW Sheet Protectors, Card & Photo Sleeves ‎1 Editorial Review

The 100 Silver Age Resealable Clear Comic Book Bags & Backer Boards by BCW is an excellent product for comic book collectors looking to protect their precious comics. The resealable tabs are easy to work with and prevent the hazard of getting tape on your pricey comics. The product is value priced together and is sized for current and silver aged comics. The comic book bags are the "sticker" kind of resealable bags, which are easy to open and re-seal. The boards come separately and are not assembled with the bags. According to a customer review, some of the backer boards are too large for the bags, causing them to curve a bit, which might indicate quality control issues with the product. Another review pointed out that the silver age bags might be a little too tight for Metal Men comic books from mid-1960s. Overall, the 100 Silver Age Resealable Clear Comic Book Bags & Backer Boards by BCW is a great investment for comic book collectors, as long as they measure their comic books before buying and are prepared to deal with potential quality control issues.
