This type of leather is not only sturdy but also takes dye and finishes beautifully, enhancing the aesthetic quality of your handmade headstalls. Additionally, using the right type of leather ensures that the headstall will withstand regular wear and tear, providing both comfort and functionality for the horse. A sharp rotary cutter or leather scissors will help you cut through leather accurately. A cutting mat is advisable to protect your workspace. Additionally, you’ll need a hole punch for creating precise holes for stitching and hardware. A sewing machine capable of handling thicker materials or a hand-sewing kit with heavy-duty needles and waxed thread will ensure you create a durable headstall. With these tools, you’re ready to craft impressive headstalls.

SLC Headstalls Editorial Review

The Leather Headstalls for Horses Pattern Pack offers multiple patterns and is designed to be easy to read. However, some customers have reported issues with the accuracy of the patterns, making it difficult to create usable headstalls. One customer noted that the sliding ear headstall pattern was so lopsided and uneven that it was unusable, even for a full-size horse. Despite these issues, some customers have found success using the patterns as templates.
