Warner Military & Political Drama Movies Editorial Review
If you are a civil war buff or a fan of the original 1993 movie Gettysburg, you may have been disappointed with Gods and Generals' original release. The first version was slow, boring, and did not flow well; it did not make sense why the Battle of Antietam was not included. However, the extended director's cut is a vast improvement. There was an hour's worth of additional footage added, and some original clips were removed, making the movie a much better story. There are added scenes in the Battle of Antietam, and characters such as John Wilkes Booth, Abraham and Mary Lincoln, and Harrison from Gettysburg were involved in the story. This cut is definitely a masterpiece, and the historically accurate scenes and well-researched plot make it a must-see for history lovers.
