What is the Fishman Matrix Infinity Mic Blend Acoustic Pickup?

The Fishman Matrix Infinity Mic Blend Acoustic Pickup is an advanced acoustic guitar pickup system that combines a piezo element with an internal microphone. This design allows musicians to capture the rich, natural sound of their guitar while minimizing feedback. The narrow split saddle design ensures precise intonation and balanced output. It's ideal for performers seeking high-quality amplified sound along with versatility in tonal options.

How does the narrow split saddle design benefit the Fishman Matrix Infinity?

The narrow split saddle design benefits the Fishman Matrix Infinity by providing improved string-to-string balance and enhanced intonation for each note played. This design ensures that the pickup captures the distinct tonal qualities of each string more accurately, resulting in a well-rounded audio experience. It's particularly useful for players who utilize alternate tunings or require precise note clarity on stage.

Can the Fishman Matrix Infinity be installed on any acoustic guitar?

While the Fishman Matrix Infinity can be installed on a wide range of acoustic guitars, it's essential to consider the specific guitar's design and construction. The installation process involves some modification to the saddle and potentially the bridge, so it's recommended for use with standard acoustic guitars with adequate space for wiring and fitting. Players should consult a professional or refer to the installation guidelines to ensure compatibility and optimal performance.

How does the mic blend feature work in the pickup system?

The mic blend feature in the Fishman Matrix Infinity allows players to adjust the balance between the piezo pickup and the internal microphone. This feature enables musicians to mix the direct sound of the strings with ambient sound from the guitar body, resulting in a richer and more dynamic tonal palette. By adjusting the blend control, players can tailor their sound for different performances and settings, from intimate acoustic venues to larger stages.

Is the Fishman Matrix Infinity suitable for live performances?

Yes, the Fishman Matrix Infinity is highly suitable for live performances due to its ability to deliver clear, natural sound without significant feedback. The blend of the piezo pickup and internal mic provides versatility, allowing musicians to achieve the desired tone whether in a solo performance or with a full band. Many artists prefer it for its reliable performance and ease of use in various stage environments.

What type of maintenance does the Fishman Matrix Infinity require?

The Fishman Matrix Infinity is low-maintenance; however, regular checks are recommended to ensure optimal performance. Users should periodically inspect connections and the pickup placement to avoid any misalignment that might affect sound quality. Additionally, keeping the guitar clean and maintaining proper humidity levels will help preserve both the pickups and the instrument itself.

How does the Fishman Matrix Infinity compare to other acoustic pickups?

The Fishman Matrix Infinity stands out from other acoustic pickups due to its innovative mic blend technology and narrow split saddle design, allowing for greater tonal depth and balance. Compared to traditional piezo-only setups, the Matrix Infinity offers a more nuanced sound by capturing both the strings and the guitar's acoustics. Many musicians note the clarity and richness of tone as key advantages over competing products.

What kind of instrument cable is compatible with the Fishman Matrix Infinity?

The Fishman Matrix Infinity is compatible with standard 1/4-inch instrument cables that connect to amplifiers, mixers, or effects pedals. It's advisable to use high-quality cables that provide reliable signal transmission to avoid any interference or signal loss. This ensures musicians can take full advantage of the pickup's rich and detailed sound reproduction when plugged into their desired audio equipment.

Can I use the Fishman Matrix Infinity with an amplifier?

Absolutely, the Fishman Matrix Infinity works exceptionally well with acoustic amplifiers. The blend of piezo and microphone input provides a warm, full-bodied sound, enhancing the overall tonal quality projected through amplifiers. This versatility allows musicians to adjust their setup for different performance settings, ensuring their sound remains consistent and engaging regardless of the venue.
